EU to develop Russia–Ukraine gas compromise for next meeting
BRUSSELS, Mar 24 (PRIME) -- The European Commission will prepare a compromise based on proposals from Russia and Ukraine for the next gas meeting, which has not been scheduled yet, E.U. Commissioner for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic told PRIME Tuesday.
The three countries have agreed that the E.U. will send additional questions its Russian and Ukrainian partners to understand how the future agreement should look like. After the answers are received, the E.U. will try to prepare a compromise.
The next meeting is likely to be held in April, but there is still no date, Sefcovic said.
Ukraine’s Energy Minister Vladimir Demchishin has said the next gas meeting was preliminarily scheduled for April 13–14 in Berlin, where Ukraine may sign some “formal agreements.”
